Coldplay’s recent concert turned controversial when a kiss-cam moment went viral for all the wrong reasons. During the band’s performance at Gillette Stadium in Boston, the camera caught Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot hugging in the crowd. What seemed like a sweet gesture quickly turned into a storm of speculation, especially after frontman Chris Martin jokingly said, “Either they’re having an affair, or they are really shy.” The situation escalated online when people discovered that both individuals are married and having an affair with each other. Byron was the CEO of software company Astronomer, and Cabot worked as the Head of HR.

Chris Martin days later while performing in Madison, Wisconsin, appeared to reference the drama in a light-hearted way. Before launching into the traditional kiss-cam segment, he smiled and told the crowd, “We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd. How we’re gonna do that is we’re gonna use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen.” He added with a cheeky grin, “So please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now.” Though he didn’t directly mention Byron or Cabot, fans quickly picked up on the reference. Many cheered, laughed, and held up signs, showing that the viral moment was still fresh in their minds.

Meanwhile, after the video spread across social media and various platforms, both Byron and Cabot were placed on administrative leave by their company. The backlash didn’t stop there just days later, the Board of Directors accepted Andy Byron’s resignation. The company released a formal statement confirming he had stepped down following the controversy.

On the other hand, the incident also affected their personal lives. Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan, who works at the Bancroft School as Associate Director of Lower School and Admissions for the Hope Graham Program, removed her husband’s surname from her Facebook profile shortly after the news broke. She eventually deactivated her account. Kristin Cabot is reportedly married to Andrew Cabot, the CEO of Privateer Rum. Memes, opinions, and speculation are still circulating as fans and onlookers debate what really happened.
