Coolie Advance Booking: Rajinikanth’s upcoming Tamil action movie Coolie is creating a storm at the box office even before its release. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the movie is on track to record one of the biggest advance booking sales for an Indian film, with industry estimates predicting over Rs 100 crore gross worldwide from pre-sales alone. Coolie is set to release on 14th August 2025, right before the Independence Day holiday, ensuring a long festive weekend for audiences. The film will face tough competition in the northern market from War 2, the Ayan Mukerji-directed sequel starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani.

Tamil movie Coolie, according to trade website Sacnilk, has already clocked over Rs 51 crore gross worldwide in advance sales for its opening day. Of this, around Rs 14 crore gross comes from the domestic market. The Tamil movie has sold approximately 6.8 lakh tickets across all versions, with the Tamil version leading the way, selling about 6.6 lakh tickets and grossing Rs 13.80 crore in India. These figures are expected to rise sharply once advance booking opens across the country. With such traction, Coolie could achieve the biggest worldwide opening for a Tamil film and be among the top openings ever for Indian cinema.

Coolie Movie Early Reviews And Fan Buzz

Early reactions from insiders are overwhelmingly positive. An X (formerly Twitter) user named @OnlyCinema_post called it Rajinikanth’s best performance since Kabali. He further praised Shruti Haasan as the main highlight, Nagarjuna as the film’s backbone, and teased a surprise Aamir Khan cameo that could “turn theatres into stadiums.” Alongside Rajinikanth, the film stars Shruti Haasan, Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Sathyaraj, and Soubin Shahir. The producers have kept most details about the storyline under wraps, adding to the intrigue. Despite the box office clash, the buzz for Coolie remains unmatched in the South, with fans preparing for a true cinema celebration.

Coolie Movie Plot

Meanwhile, reports have hinted at possible plot directions. According to Letterboxd, Coolie tells the story of Deva, a former gold smuggler who once inspired fear among the public. Now, he hopes to reclaim his former glory by reuniting his old crew and regaining control of the underworld. Fandango offers a slightly different take, describing the film as a more emotional journey, where Deva seeks revenge for wrongs done to him in his youth. This quest for justice shapes his entire life.
