This impressive feat surpasses Lokesh Kanagaraj's previous film Leo, which earned Rs 143 crore on its opening day last year. Coolie has dominated the global box office, collecting Rs 31 crore in Tamil Nadu, Rs 9.75 crore in Kerala, and an astonishing Rs 75 crore from overseas markets. Best opening for an Indian film in 2025
Rajinikanth's film Coolie has made history with a whopping Rs 151 crore worldwide gross on its opening day, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 so far. This impressive feat surpasses other notable releases like Ram Charan's Game Changer, which had a significantly lower opening. Interestingly, War 2, starring Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan, is currently tied in second place.
Fourth-best opening by an original Indian film
Coolie has made a significant mark with its opening day collection of Rs 151 crore. Interestingly, only a few Indian films have surpassed this feat. Among them, RRR, Kalki 2898 AD, and Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire are the original films that raked in Rs 223 crore, Rs 178 crore and Rs 158 crore, respectively.
Highest-grossing Tamil film of 2025
