Coolie: For a long time, there have been reports that the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial, starring Rajinikanth is expected to cost between Rs 350 and Rs 400 crore. Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Monisha Blessy, and Kaali Venkat are also featured in the Tamil masterpiece. Additionally, there has been discussion on how Lokesh is receiving Rs 50 crore in salary while Rajinikanth is receiving an astounding Rs 150 crore.

The Coolie filmmaker definitively put an end to rumours about his pay in an interview with THR India. In contrast to most actors and directors who play coy, Lokesh Kanagaraj not only confirmed his Coolie remuneration but also disclosed in the interview that it doubled following the success of Thalapathy Vijay's Leo.

The Coolie director said, "I can’t say anything about Rajinikanth sir’s salary. However, the Rs 50 crore you have mentioned is my salary…that has happened because of my previous film, Leo. Leo made over Rs 600 crore, so now I’m getting twice as much as what I made previously."

Lokesh Kanagaraj went on to reveal that he took over two years to make Rajinikanth led movie. "I pay my taxes, and I’m able to support my friends and family thanks to the same. I don’t have any complaints on the sacrifices I needed to make to get to this point; my last two years went completely into the making of Coolie, and it was my responsibility," he added.

Lokesh responded that only the producer, director, and star should be worried about the box office receipts when asked if there is pressure on the movie to earn Rs 1000 crore. Coolie opens on the same day as another anticipated movie, War 2, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR,. Coolie and War will locks horns on August 14 at the box office.
