Coolie Release: Rajinikanth starrer much-awaited film Coolie hit the silver screens today. The movie marks the 50-year legacy of the South superstar. Several fans have arrived at a theatre in Madurai to catch the first day, first show. They were seen beating dhol (drums), showering flower petals and dancing outside a theatre to celebrate Rajinikanth’s legacy and his movie Coolie. Fans have high expectations of the Tamil action drama film.
Coolie has already broken several records, including selling 1.2 million tickets on the country’s top ticket marketplace in just two days before its release. It also performed well at the global ticket windows and earned over 1.9 million (Rs 166.6 crore) in advance booking in North America itself.

Coolie is about a man’s relentless quest for vengeance since his youth. He has been driven by righting past wrongs, shaping his every existence. It shows his tumultuous vendetta journey. The movie features Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Upendra Rao, Pooja Hegde, Sathyaraj and Reba Monica John in key roles. It has been directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Kalanithi Maran. The film has a runtime of 2 hours and 50 minutes. Anirudh Ravichander is the music director of the movie. As per the latest reports, the film has been made on a whopping budget of Rs 400 crore. The film has been receiving positive reviews from the audience so far on Twitter.
It had a box office clash with another big banner film War 2. The YRF spy movie stars Hrithik Roshan, Kiara Advani, Jr NTR, Shabir Ahluwalia and Shabir Ahluwalia in key roles. Both War 2 and Coolie were released in theatres on the occasion of Independence Day week.
