Daadi Ki Shaadi Box Office Update: The family comedy Daadi Ki Shaadi, starring Kapil Sharma, Neetu Kapoor, and debutante Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, released in cinemas on May 8, 2026. Despite the star-studded cast and the excitement surrounding the Kapoor family, the film has faced a very difficult opening day. Early reports suggest the movie struggled to attract audiences, resulting in low ticket sales across the country.

Daadi Ki Shaadi Box Office Collection Day 1

The box office numbers for the first day have been quite disappointing for the makers. According to reports in Sacnilk, Daadi Ki Shaadi minted Rs 60 lakh in India and around Rs 72 lakh worldwide on day 1. The film’s performance was particularly quiet in overseas markets, and the response in Indian theatres was equally muted.

This makes the film Kapil Sharma’s second-lowest opener to date. His worst-performing debut was Zwigato (2022), which earned only Rs 43 lakh on its first day. In contrast, his other films like Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon (Rs 10 crore) and Firangi (Rs 2 crore) had much stronger starts.

Daadi Ki Shaadi Movie Review

While the box office numbers are low, the reactions on social media have been more positive. Some fans who watched the film enjoyed its light-hearted theme. One viewer shared their thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), writing, "Daadi Ki Shaadi. Age is just a number… the real fun of love and marriage comes from the heart. A hilarious family entertainer where grandma's wedding turns into the whole family's biggest spectacle!"

Meanwhile, Daadi Ki Shaadi also marks the first time Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, daughter of the late Rishi Kapoor, has appeared on the big screen. Many fans were curious to see her performance alongside her mother, Neetu Kapoor.

Daadi Ki Shaadi Plot Explained

Directed by Ashish R Mohan, the film tells the story of Tony Kalra (Kapil Sharma), a man from Delhi who finally finds a chance to marry his college crush, Kanu (Sadia Khateeb). However, the situation turns upside down on the day of their engagement.

Kanu’s grandmother, Vimala Ahuja (Neetu Kapoor), posts on social media that she wants to get married again. This shocking news leads to Tony’s father (Yograj Singh) calling off the wedding. The family then travels to Shimla to try and stop the grandmother, leading to a series of funny situations and family drama.

Although the Bollywood movie is filled with sharp wit and funny dialogues, it remains to be seen if the positive word-of-mouth on social media can help increase the collections over the weekend.
