Mahavatar: Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming mythological movie Mahavatar is once again creating buzz, this time because reports claim that Deepika Padukone is being considered for the female lead. Reports suggest early discussions have already begun and the studio is said to be progressing positively with the idea of bringing Deepika Padukone on board. If finalised, this would mark the first time Deepika Padukone and Vicky Kaushal share screen space, making the potential casting even more exciting for fans.

According to a report in Mid-Day, the makers are looking for an actress who can deliver both emotional weight and strong screen presence for a role written opposite Parashurama. “Deepika fits that space perfectly. Conversations have begun, but they are still in the early stages. She is among the top names being considered,” the report said. Although the story mainly revolves around the eternal warrior Parashurama, the female character reportedly has a powerful and well-developed arc. Director Amar Kaushik has apparently been clear from the beginning that she should stand on equal footing in the narrative. Speculation grew stronger after Deepika Padukone was spotted outside the Maddock Films office recently. While some believed she might be joining their horror-comedy universe, the latest reports suggest her discussions are related to Mahavatar instead. However, no official confirmation has been given by the makers.

Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal has been fully committed to his preparation for the film. A recent Bollywood Hungama report stated that both Vicky Kaushal and director Amar Kaushik plan to give up non-vegetarian food and alcohol as part of the preparation process. According to the report, Mahavatar requires immense focus, and the two want to approach it with complete dedication. They are expected to begin formal prep with a pooja ceremony next year. The Uri actor will reportedly shift to this routine once he wraps up Love And War, which he is currently shooting with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

On the other hand, last year, the Chhaava actor revealed the first look of Mahavatar, where he appears as Chiranjeevi Parashurama. The poster went viral instantly. Produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film is scheduled for a Christmas 2026 release, although new reports indicate it may get delayed. Vicky Kaushal has dedicated nearly 200 days to Love And War, and its shoot is expected to continue till late 2025. This might push Mahavatar beyond its planned date.
