Ranveer Singh’s highly anticipated film Dhurandhar has found itself embroiled in controversy just days before its release. The spy action thriller, directed by Aditya Dhar and scheduled to hit theatres on December 5, 2025, has been under legal scrutiny after the family of the late Major Mohit Sharma, Ashoka Chakra and Sena Medal awardee, filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking an urgent stay on the film’s release and screening. The family alleged that the movie draws unauthorised inspiration from their son’s life without obtaining consent from them or the Indian Army. In the latest development, the Delhi HC has disposed of the petition with instructions to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to consider the objections raised by Major Mohit Sharma’s parents during its certification process.

No Stay Order On Dhurandhar By Delhi High Court

Dhurandhar, which stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun, has received a green signal from the Delhi HC but remains under the scrutiny of the CBFC. The court did not issue a stay order on the film’s release, but has directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to expedite its review.

According to reports, the High Court bench headed by Justice Sachin Datta also asked CBFC to consider the objections raised by Major Mohit Sharma’s parents. The court disposed of the petition with instructions that the board take the family’s concerns into account and, if necessary, consult the Indian Army before granting clearance. The fate of Dhurandhar now rests with the CBFC certification.
