Ranbir Kapoor recently turned 43 and celebrated the day with his family, including wife Alia Bhatt and daughter Raha, on a vacation. After returning to Mumbai, he celebrated again by cutting a cake with the paparazzi. Making the occasion even more memorable for his fans, Ranbir did an Instagram Live session from his brand ARKS’ official account. During the session, he shared what gifts he has received, especially from his daughter, but what caught everyone's attention was his revelation about his directorial debut. He confirmed he is 'dying to direct a movie' and revealed that he already has ideas and is going to start working on them.
Ranbir Kapoor Confirms His Directorial Debut
During the live session, when a fan asked about his plans to become a director, Ranbir replied, “I am dying to direct a movie. I have actually started a writers’ room recently. I am trying to inspire myself with the two ideas I have. I am starting to work on it, but it is definitely on my to-do list in the next couple of years.”
Ranbir Kapoor, who is currently gearing up for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love and War, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, also spoke about reuniting with the filmmaker. He said, “Love and War is a film directed by Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and it stars one of my two favourite actors, Vicky Kaushal and, of course my super talented wife Alia Bhatt, and it’s directed by the man who taught me everything about cinema, whatever I know about acting, was seeded in by him, and he was a master then, and I’m working with him 18 years later, and he’s even bigger master today. So I’m very happy with that collaboration.”

That's not all, Ranbir also shared details about his highly anticipated sequel to the hit film Animal. The actor added, "Animal Park should start in 2027. Sandeep has been interacting with me on the idea, the music and the characters, and it’s just crazy, and I can’t wait to be on set."

Ranbir Kapoor's birthday celebration on September 28 was filled with heartfelt wishes from family and friends in the industry, including an adorable handmade card from his daughter Raha.
Meanwhile, Ranbir will also be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, where he will play the role of Lord Ram. Besides him, the film also stars Sai Pallavi, Lara Dutta, Ravi Dubey, Sunny Deol, Yash and others. The first part is scheduled to hit the theatres on Diwali 2026.
