Singer cum actor Diljit Dosanjh has made a big name in the Indian fiilm industry with his acting and singing talent. Now, years after he has been honoured, which rarely an Indian artist has ever received. As per reports, Diljit will be part of the curriculum coursework as advised by the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). The course will be offered in The Creative School, which will have an impact on ‘cultural, musical and diasporic relevance’. The curriculum coursework was announced at the Billboard Summit at NXNE in Toronto. The course is expected to begin in 2026.
Assistant Professor at The Creative School at TMU, Dr. Charlie Wall-Andrews said in a statement, “Toronto Metropolitan University is excited to pioneer a course on Diljit Dosanjh, whose journey embodies the intersection of culture, identity and global music entrepreneurship. His rise illustrates the cultural influence and economic potential of Punjabi music on the world stage. By examining his impact, students will explore how regional sounds shape global pop culture, mobilise diasporic communities and contribute to sustainable creative economies rooted in authenticity.”

This honour came amid Diljit Dosanjh has been receiving backlash for featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3. The horror comedy movie has been directed by Amar Hundal. The film is expected to release on June 27 overseas. Sardaar Ji 3 will not be releasing in theatres in India. FWICE President, BN Tiwari stated that Dosnajh has hurt the Indian sentiment. In a statement to Hindustan Times, Tiwari said, “By working with a Pakistani actor, Diljit has hurt Indian sentiments. He has disrespected the sentiments of the nation and insulted the sacrifice of our brave soldiers. His preference for Pakistani talent over Indian artists raises serious questions about his loyalty and priorities. By collaborating with a Pakistani actor, Diljit has hurt Indian sentiments, disrespected the nation, and insulted the sacrifices of our brave soldiers.”
