Abhishek Bachchan, son of legendary Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, made his acting debut with the 2000 movie Refugee. Over the years, Abhishek has been a popular face in Bollywood for delivering powerful performances in movies like Guru (2007), Yuva (2004), Sarkar (2005), and Manmarziyaan (2018), among others. While he comes from one of Bollywood’s most iconic families, Abhishek’s journey in the film industry has not been easy. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about the struggles he faced early in his career despite his family background.
Abhishek Bachchan, in a recent interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, shared his struggles regarding his first break in Bollywood. “I didn’t understand then, but I understood when I signed Refugee,” he said. Although many assumed it would be easier for him because of his father’s status, the reality was quite the opposite.

The Housefull 5 actor recalled how hesitant filmmakers were to launch him, worried about the expectations that would come from introducing Amitabh Bachchan’s son. “They were like, ‘We don’t want the responsibility of launching Amitabh Bachchan’s son.’ I didn’t get that,” he said. “He’s such an immense figure that people have so much love and respect for,” he added, referring to Big B’s legacy in the film industry.
Meanwhile, the Kaalidhar Laapata actor also shared how rejection affected him as a 21 year old. “I get it, but when you are so young and are like, ‘I’m ready, but no, really? Okay.’ You feel bad,” he admitted. He noted that many actors face even greater challenges. “It’s very disheartening, as any actor will tell you—not just me.” He further added, “When you’re 21 years old and filled with exuberance and zest, and you know the chatter that you keep hearing around you, ‘He’s gonna become an actor.’ Oh, it’s a big deal.” However, his enthusiasm was often met with rejection. “When you go into a meeting—and not one but several—to say, ‘Thanks, but no thanks,’ and very politely.”
