Emraan Hashmi, celebrated for his work in movies like Raaz, Murder, and Jannat, among others, is set to star in Awarapan 2. Earlier this year on his birthday, the actor shared an introduction video for the movie, which is the spiritual sequel to 2007's Awarapan. The teaser eagerly generated significant excitement among fans. Recently, the OG actor changed the profile picture of his social media handles to a half-face photo, which fans quickly linked to the upcoming movie Awarapan 2.

Emraan Hashmi’s DP quickly went viral on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, sparking fan speculation. The picture showcases one side of his face with long hair, intense eyes, and what looks like rain-soaked wounds. Fans immediately speculated that this could be Shivam Pandit’s much-awaited comeback. “Shivam Pandit Returns,” one fan excitedly commented. This rugged aesthetic harks back to Emraan’s character in the 2007 film Awarapan, which achieved cult status after its release despite its modest box office performance.

About the 2007 Movie Awarapan

The movie was directed by Mohit Suri. The ensemble cast included Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, and Ashutosh Rana alongside Emraan Hashmi. Released in 2007, the movie failed to perform well at the box office but was eventually regarded as one of Emraan’s best works for his strong screen appearance. Meanwhile, in an interview with India Today, director Mohit Suri said, “It didn’t do well when it was released, and I was really upset because I genuinely felt the film was excellent. So I felt like maybe my perspective was off." He further said, “The fact that they are making a sequel of a film today which at that time didn’t do well at the box office—I don’t know too many film directors who’ve had that opportunity."

Emraan Hashmi’s Work Front

The 46-year-old is currently gearing up for his upcoming movie Gunmaster G9. The new-age action drama is slated to hit the theatres in 2026 and also stars Genelia Deshmukh and Aparshakti Khurana. The movie will also mark the reunion of Emraan Hashmi, Aditya Datt, and Himesh Reshammiya. He also has a Telugu movie in his kitty. The movie titled OG is scheduled to hit theatres on September 25, 2025. The movie stars Pawan Kalyan and Priyanka Mohan alongside Emraan in the lead.
