Fatima Sana Shaikh has disclosed that she was physically attacked after standing up to a man who grabbed her inappropriately in public. She acknowledges that the horrific event has affected her in a permanent way and that its consequences are still present. In another incident, Fatima was riding her bicycle in Mumbai when she was yelled at and pursued by a tempo driver.

Fatima Sana Shaikh recently spoke overcoming everyday sexism in the most recent episode of The Male Feminist on Hauterrfly. He said, "Once, a man touched me inappropriately, and I hit him. But he hit me back so hard, that I was fully down. I only hit him because he touched me, but that pissed him off and he hit me to the point that I fell."

Fatima Sana Shaikh's life was altered by the event, which served as a wake-up call. He shared, "After that incident, I got a little more cautious. I realised that we also have to check how to react in such situations. But look at the irony... Something wrong is happening with us, and we only have to think how to react to it."

Fatima Sana Shaikh also remembered being harassed during a lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic. In Mumbai, a tempo driver was honking and making strange noises at me while the Dangal actress rode her bicycle while wearing a mask.
