Gully Boy Sequel: The Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy, a musical drama, released in 2019, created waves thanks to its compelling storyline and powerful performances. It tells the story of aspiring street rapper Murad Ahmed from the Dharavi slums of Mumbai. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film is inspired by the lives of Indian street rappers DIVINE and Naezy. The movie also starred Vijay Varma and Siddhant Chaturvedi in key roles. Almost six years later, there is good news: the sequel to Gully Boy is in the works. Gully Boy Sequel In Works?
Sequel to Gully Boy will have a new storyline focusing on a new rapper and a fresh star cast.
As per a source quoted by Mid-Day, "With Gully Boy, Zoya and Reema [Kagti, co-producer and writer] brought on screen not only the struggles and perseverance of Indian rappers, but also the wide class divide. They felt the theme could lend itself to a sequel as there are many such rich stories to be explored. While Gully Boy saw the journey of Ranveer’s Murad reach its culmination, the second part will trace the story of another rapper.”
Gully Boy Sequel Filming Expected Date?
The film is in preparation. It will reportedly begin filmng by end of the year.
Who Is Expected To Helm Gully Boy Sequel?
Arjun Varain Singh, known for Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, is reportedly on board for Zoya's Gully Boy's sequel. Ananya Pandey, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gourav starrer marked his directorial debut.
The source stated, "Arjun showed depth in his directorial debut, and Zoya felt he was the right person to take this franchise ahead."
Gully Boy Cast And Crew Members
The 2019 musical drama starred Ranveer Singh as Murad, while Alia Bhatt portrayed the role of Safeena, Murad's girlfriend. Vijay Varma as Moeen and Siddhanth Chaturvedi as MC Sher. Gully Boy also featured Kalki Koechlin, Amruta Subhash and Vijay Raaz in key roles. Directed by Zoya Akhtar and written by Akhtar along with Reema Kagti. The film was backed by Ritesh Sidhwani, Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar.
