The Indian Premier League 2025 culminated on an interesting note this time as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) to win the title after an 18-year wait. The finals were held at the Ahmedabad stadium, which saw the presence of some big Bollywood celebrities such as Preity Zinta (co-owner PBKS), who was cheering for her team, Anushka Sharma who was rooting for husband Virat Kohli (RCB) and Aamir Khan who joined the Hindi commentary box to promote his upcoming movie Sitaare Zameen Par. Khan arrived at the stadium and joined the commentary box with Suresh Raina and Aakash Chopra for a 20-minute stint.

Fans gave mixed reactions to Aamir’s first-time commentary. Some praised his knowledge, but some were upset as he praised Virat Kohli and RCB. He also called Virat a ‘perfectionist’. Aamir also stated that winning the IPL would be a great swansong for a legendary career like Virat Kohli’s. Rahul Dholakia, who is known for directing movies like Raees, took an indirect dig at Aamir without naming him and asked him to focus on his movie promotions rather than sermonising. The tweet read, “Yaar picture ka promotion karo gyaan mat baato (Promote your film but don't sermonise). I want KOHLI to win this year and Zinta to win next year! Both these passionate people deserve to win- for their sheer persistence!” Though he did not take Aamir’s name but his tweet timing and Aamir’s presence to promote his film convinced fans that it was the actor. The director got several criticisms following which he deleted the tweet.
