Hera Pheri 3: Bollywood’s much-loved comedy franchise Hera Pheri is finally moving forward with its third instalment. After years of delays, rumours and controversies, Hera Pheri 3 is officially on track. Versatile actor Paresh Rawal, who plays the iconic character Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, has confirmed that the shooting for the film will begin in February 2026. Paresh Rawal will be seen reprising his role alongside his co-stars Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, who play Raju and Shyam respectively. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film is set to bring back the trio that audiences have loved for over two decades.

In a recent conversation with News18, Paresh Rawal shared an update about the long-awaited sequel. “It’s a work in progress. We’ll start shooting for the film in February-March next year,” he revealed. This announcement has excited fans who have been eagerly waiting to see the iconic trio reunite on screen. Over the past few years, Hera Pheri 3 has faced multiple controversies and reports of disagreements among the cast and makers. When asked whether those issues had affected his relationship with director Priyadarshan, the Bhagam Bhag actor was quick to dismiss any such concerns. “A lot has happened but that hasn’t soured my relationship with Priyadarshan. Aise rishta kharab nahi hota hai (relationships don’t get spoiled so easily). In fact, what has happened has further solidified our bond. Through all this, we now know each other in a clearer and sharper way. The wound has healed. Our relationship is very transparent,” the 70 year old actor said.

Meanwhile, there has also been speculation about a possible spin-off film based on his much-loved character Baburao. However, the Welcome actor clarified that there were no such discussions between him and Priyadarshan. He explained that Hera Pheri works best as an ensemble film. “Ek film sabki wajah se banti hai (a film is made because of everyone). I don’t think Baburao can exist on his own. You’ll need Shyam and Raju too. I’m not a greedy actor. I’m not foolish either. I’m not someone who assumes that the world runs because of me. Even if a standalone film happens someday, Shyam and Raju also need to be there,” the OMG actor said.
