Homebound, starring Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa in lead roles, has been announced as India's official entry for Oscars. The film has reportedly faced challenges with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ahead of its Indian release. According to Bollywood Hungama, the film was referred to the Revising Committee (RC) after the Examining Committee (EC) likely requested several cuts. The RC subsequently asked for modifications to be made to the movie.

If the reports are to be believed, the Revising Committee made several changes to the movie, including muting and replacing certain words at six places, deleting the dialogue "Aloo gobhi…khaate hai", censoring a two-second visual of a man performing puja, and replacing the word "gyaan". The Revising Committee modified a dialogue in a crucial cricket match scene (at 1 hour and 4 minutes) and deleted 32 seconds of footage, although the content of the deleted scenes is not publicly known.

The CBFC's Revising Committee ultimately censored 1 minute and 17 seconds of footage from "Homebound", after which the film was granted a U/A 16+ certificate on September 12.
