Homebound OTT Release: After its world premiere at Cannes 2025 and a win at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Homebound, starring Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa, has now been selected as India’s official submission for the Oscars 2026. This has generated immense excitement among the cast and fans. Recently, the makers unveiled the gripping trailer, offering an emotionally charged story of friendship, blended with ambition and caste discrimination. Ahead of its theatrical run, slated for September 26, the OTT partner for Neeraj Ghaywan'sdirectorial has been revealed.

Homebound OTT Release Update

As mentioned in the film's official poster and the end credits of the trailer, Homebound will stream on Netflix after its theatrical run. However, the makers of Ishaan and Vishal starrer have not yet announced the OTT release date for the film.

Backed by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra under the banner of Dharma Productions, the film is also associated with legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, who serves as an executive producer. The story is an emotionally charged narrative about two best friends.

Homebound follows the journey of two childhood friends, played by Ishaan and Vishal, who have big dreams of getting police jobs by clearing the National police exams. These jobs would grant them the dignity they have longed for, which has been denied to them for so long. As they get closer to their dream, their bond begins to face threats. Despite the challenges, they stand by each other. Janhvi plays the powerful role of Sudha Bharti, a Dalit girl in the movie. Together, the trio face caste, religious and gender disparities while pursuing their dream life.

Homebound Is India's Official Entry For Oscars 2026

Producer Karan Johar took to Instagram to announce the joyous news, expressing gratitude to The Film Federation of India (FFI) for choosing Homebound, featuring Ishaan, Janhvi and Vishal, to represent India at the 98th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.
