Recently, viral reports claimed that celebrity bodyguards earn between £200,000 and £250,000 (Rs 2–2.5 crore) annually. However, Shah Rukh Khan’s former bodyguard, Yaseen Khan, has now come forward to debunk these claims. Yaseen Khan, who served as Shah Rukh’s security person for a decade between 2001 and 2011, clarified that social media often exaggerates the earnings of security personnel.

In a candid interview with Hindi Rush, Yaseen Khan addressed the rumours of bodyguards taking home up to £10,000 (Rs 10 lakh) a month. He stated, "I don’t think they earn that kind of amount yearly. If a celebrity personally pays them based on mutual understanding, that’s different. But salaries are not that high. Who is paying Rs 8–10 lakh per month?"

How Gauri Khan Helped Yaseen Khan Change Industry Standards For Bodyguards?

Yaseen Khan further revealed that during his early years in the industry, bodyguards faced significant financial struggles. While makeup artists, drivers, and spot boys were paid directly by film producers during shoots, security guards were often excluded from these budgets. Realising his, Yaseen Khan approached Gauri Khan to discuss the issue. Gauri Khan helped him in changing the system, agreeing that security personnel should also have contracts with producers during film projects.

Speaking about working with Shah Rukh Khan, Yaseen Khan noted, "My life was whatever Shah Rukh sir’s life was. I used to travel around the globe in private planes, stay in five star hotels, and had eight passports completely stamped. When I joined Shah Rukh sir, I saw a plane for the first time."

Beyond the professional side of his role, Yaseen Khan witnessed the private life of the superstar. He praised Shah Rukh’s dedication as a father to Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam. Yaseen Khan recalled, "The best thing about him was that even when he was shooting in the US, he’d study on his own and then teach his children online for their exams."

After leaving his role in 2011 for personal reasons, Yaseen Khan founded his own security firm, YK PROSEC, in 2015. His company has since handled high-profile security for the weddings of stars like Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, and Sidharth Malhotra.
