Despite massive buzz, Hrithik Roshan's War 2 failed to perform as per expectations. War 2 also stars Jr NTR and Kiara Advani in lead roles. The film hit the theatres around Independence Day and opened to mixed reviews from fans and critics alike. Now, after a few months of its release, Roshan has finally broken his silence over the failure of War 2 at a launch event in Dubai.

Hrithik said on stage, "It feels amazing to be sharing the stage with such a big global icon. We were just discussing earlier how it's been so many years since we've been seeing you on screen. Oh, what a moment this is guys. A big round of applause for the superstar himself over here."

After the audience started to cheer him, Hrithik said, "That's very kind of you... You know, my film just bombed at the box office, so it feels very good to get all the love, Thank you."

Earlier, Hrithik also shared a post on Instagram and opened up on playing Kabir in the movie, calling it "fun". He even shared some stills of his character from the movie and explained how well he connected with Kabir. He wrote in the caption, "Playing kabir was so much fun. So relaxed , knew him so well. It was going to be easy. Finally a movie I could do like so many others do, keep it simple , play the actor, do your job and come home. And it was exactly that. I was taken care of so well by my director Ayaan. It was such a pleasure to have his energy on set."

About War 2: About War 2: War 2 hit theatres on August 14, 2025, coinciding with the Indian Independence Day weekend, and was released in multiple formats including standard, IMAX, D-Box, ICE, 4DX, EPIQ and Dolby Cinema. The film received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics. While the cast performances, action sequences, and cinematography were praised, the story, screenplay, direction and visual effects faced criticism. At the box office, War 2 underperformed, earning between Rs 303–351 crore worldwide. Despite this, it became the third highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025 and the fifth highest-grossing Indian film of the year.
