Naga Vamsi, a Telugu film distributor and producer, has finally spoken out on War 2's lackluster box office results. The sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, opened in theaters on August 14, 2025. Speaking in a promotional interview for his next movie, Mass Jathara, which stars Ravi Teja, Naga Vamsi acknowledged that he made a mistake by putting his entire trust in Yash Raj Films and Aditya Chopra.

Naga Vamsi was asked about why War 2 didn't work. Speaking to Gulte, the well-known producer said that his unconditional faith in YRF chief Aditya Chopra was a grave mistake. He said, "Everyone makes mistakes, and the same happened with War 2. NTR garu and I trusted Aditya Chopra and Yash Raj Films. It didn't work out, and I became the target after the film's failure."

Naga Vamsi emphasized how much he had been trolling for the film, which he hadn't even made. He added, "I was trolled heavily, and I had to bear the brunt of it. The only silver lining is that I was trolled for a film I didn't even produce."

Hrithik Roshan returns as Agent Kabir in War 2 after a six-year hiatus. Agent Vikram is NTR Jr.'s new role in the franchise. Ashutosh Rana and Anil Kapoor are also portrayed in important roles. War 2 was made available to the general public in Telugu markets by Naga Vamsi. He spent a lot of money purchasing the Telugu distribution rights. He urged moviegoers to attend the pre-release event of War 2 in order to generate slightly more opening day revenue for the Telugu version than the original. His popularity was too little, and the film failed miserably on its first weekend of release.

The Telugu version proved to be an absolute disaster while the Hindi version gained some popularity for a few weeks. For the record, the Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani starrer concluded its whole theatrical run at Rs. 360 crore revenue at the worldwide box office. The Telugu-dubbed version was only able to contribute Rs. 63 crore gross, while the Hindi markets contributed Rs. 214 crore of the total.
