‘I Felt Really Small…': Anurag Basu Showers Oscar-Shortlisted Movie Homebound With Heartfelt Appreciation

Neeraj Ghayawan directed movie Homebound has been receiving massive praise from prominent figures across Bollywood. The movie marked a major milestone for Indian cinema after it was shortlisted for an Oscar for Best International Feature Film, signifying global recognition. The talented cast of the movie, including Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, Janhvi Kapoor and others, also received immense appreciation from their fans and well-wishers for their intense performances. Recently, director Anurag Basu came forward to laud the movie and share his experience, recalling how he 'felt small' after watching the masterpiece.

Anurag Basu recently reflected on his experience of Homebound, describing how it resonated with him as a viewer. In a conversation with Zoom, he said, "Neeraj ka film dekhke, I really felt small. I messaged him also. Cinema itna accha hai na shayad aise logon se aapki mulaqat na ho. Aise situation pe aap na jaye lekin jab aap voh jeete hai na vahan baithke film ko, it really affected me. I have never been so affected. Shalini ka chappal wala scene aata hai, main toh hil hi gaya (After watching Neeraj's film, I really felt small. I messaged him also. The cinema is so good that even if you are not going to meet these people and be in that situation, you live the moment while sitting in a theatre. It really affected me. I have never been so affected. Shalini's chappal scene shook me to the core)."

On October 10, Anurag also shared his views about the movie on X, lauding the cast and crew of Homebound. He wrote, "Saw #Homebound last night and I’m still in its beautiful hangover. A timely aching film that deserves every conversation and yes, an Oscar nod.
