Epstein Files Controversy: The names of Bollywood stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap have surfaced in the recently released Epstein Files, a massive collection of documents linked to American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The disclosures have sparked widespread discussion online, with many seeking clarity on what the mentions actually mean. According to reports, the names appear in email exchanges and event-related documents included in the files. However, there is no evidence suggesting any wrongdoing or direct involvement by the Indian celebrities.

Why Are Aishwarya Rai And Abhishek Bachchan Mentioned?

Reports indicate that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan’s names appear in email correspondence found within the Epstein files. The documents reportedly mention that the Bachchan couple co-chaired an event which Epstein was invited to. The event in question was an amfAR fundraiser held during the Cannes Film Festival, sponsored by The Weinstein Company. According to the emails, Epstein was listed as one of the invitees, while the Bachchans were named as co-chairs. It is important to note that there is no confirmation that Jeffrey Epstein actually attended the event, nor is there any indication of direct contact between him and the Bachchan couple.

As per reports, the actors’ names were found in an email exchange between Epstein’s assistant Leslie Groff and Peggy Siegal’s assistant Amanda Scarbnick. The email reportedly listed the Bachchans among several notable personalities associated with the event. Multiple reports have clarified that the couple has no known personal or professional ties to Epstein beyond this mention in event-related correspondence.

Anurag Kashyap Named As The ‘Bollywood Guy’

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has also been mentioned in the Epstein files, where he was reportedly referred to as the “Bollywood Guy” in email exchanges involving Epstein and individuals such as Giuseppe Bersani, Gino Yu, and Ornella Corazza. So far, there has been no official confirmation that the reference directly points to Kashyap, and no further details have been established about the context of the mention. Earlier, filmmaker Mira Nair was also briefly linked to discussions around the files, though no concrete connection was ever proven.

What Are the Epstein Files?

The Epstein Files consist of millions of pages of documents, emails, photos, and videos related to the criminal activities of Jeffrey Epstein and his associates. The material was released by the US Department of Justice under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which required the government to make public all unclassified information connected to Epstein’s sexual offences. The files reportedly include references to several global public figures such as Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and Kevin Spacey. According to US media reports, at least 16 files have allegedly gone missing from the public database.
