Is Munna Bhai 3 In Works? Actor Arshad Warsi Shares Major Update

Munna Bhai 3: After years of speculation, Munna Bhai 3 is finally closer to becoming a reality. Actor Arshad Warsi, who played the beloved Circuit alongside Sanjay Dutt’s Munna Bhai, confirmed that director Rajkumar Hirani is actively working on the script. In a recent interview, Arshad said, “At one point, it wasn’t happening at all, but now Raju is actually working on it. He’s seriously working on the script, and it seems like it should happen now.” This revelation has given fans fresh hope, ending nearly two decades of uncertainty surrounding one of Bollywood’s most loved film franchises.

Arshad also shared fond memories of working with Sanjay Dutt, describing their bond both on and off-screen. “Sanju is just mind-blowing — a completely different kind of talent. It was always fun working with him,” he said. The actor humorously recalled how Dutt often forgot the day’s scenes, and Arshad had to remind him of the storyline. “Every day he would ask, ‘Bro, what are we doing today?’ and I’d have to explain which scene came before and after. But what we created together on screen was pure magic,” he added. Their chemistry as Munna and Circuit remains one of the most iconic duos in Bollywood history.

The Munna Bhai series, directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, began with Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. in 2003. The film followed a kind-hearted Mumbai gangster who joins medical college to fulfil his father’s dream. Its 2006 sequel, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, presented a fresh story where Munna adopts Mahatma Gandhi’s principles, introducing the concept of “Gandhigiri” to modern audiences. Both films were critical and commercial hits, grossing nearly ₹160 crore worldwide and leaving an enduring legacy in Indian cinema.

Fans have long awaited the third chapter, especially after a teaser titled Munna Bhai Chale America was released in 2007 but later shelved. Over the years, Hirani insisted he would only move forward when the script felt “200% right.” Now, with confirmation that the filmmaker is developing a new idea, excitement is building once again. As Arshad put it, “It looks like it should finally happen.” If all goes as planned, Munna Bhai 3 may soon bring back the heart, humour, and warmth that made the franchise unforgettable.
