Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2: Salman Khan and director Kabir Khan have created box office magic in the past with movies like Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The duo has worked together on three films, and fans have long been waiting to see them team up again. Now, as Bajrangi Bhaijaan completes 10 years on 17 July, Kabir Khan has opened up about a possible reunion with Salman and the idea of a sequel. The 2015 movie also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, Harshaali Malhotra and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Bajrangi Bhaijan director Kabir Khan, in a recent interview with Pinkvilla shared that he remains in regular contact with all the actors he’s worked with, including Salman. “Salman and I have worked on three films and we continue to share ideas. I’d love to collaborate again, but only if we find the right story. We don't want to come together just for the sake of an announcement or buzz in the industry. It has to be a script we both feel strongly about,” he explained.

Kabir confirmed that they are indeed discussing ideas. “We’ve been going over several stories recently. If one of them clicks, it could even be my next film,” he added.

Meanwhile, he also gave an update on the much-anticipated Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2. While confirming that discussions have taken place, he emphasised that nothing has been finalised yet. “Yes, we’ve spoken about a sequel. But in today’s time, where every franchise seems to get a second part, we’re being very careful. We don’t want to make a second part just for the sake of it. Salman and I both agree we need a story that’s just as powerful as the original,” Kabir said.

He further added that they have no plans to cash in on the success of the first film. “We don’t want to spoil the legacy of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which is one of the most beloved films of the past two decades. If we find the right story whether that happens now or even a year later  we will definitely make it,” he added.

Though Kabir Khan has usually stayed away from sequels, he is willing to make an exception for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. “I’ve never followed the trend of sequels in my career. But I know how much joy a second part of Bajrangi Bhaijaan can bring to the audience. I’d love to direct it but only for the right reasons, not just to chase box office success,” he concluded.
