IT Actor James Ransone Found Dead At Los Angeles Home; Suicide Reported As Cause Of Death

American actor James Ransone, known for his role as Ziggy Sobotka in the second season of the series The Wire, tragically passed away at his home in Los Angeles on Friday at the age of 46. According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, the cause of his death was reportedly recorded as suicide. In many of his earlier interviews, the actor has opened up about his drug addiction and experiencing abuse as a child.

TMZ confirmed the passing of the actor James Ransone after the Los Angeles Police Department found him deceased at his home in Los Angeles. The death investigation confirmed that the actor died by suicide and that there is no foul play.

James Ransone On Drug Addiction And Sexual Abuse

The late actor James Ransone had opened up many times about his struggles with mental health and how he was sexually abused as a child.

In 2021, James shared a lengthy post on Instagram, publicly exposing his former math tutor Timothy Rualo for sexually assaulting him repeatedly in 1992 at his family home in Phoenix, Maryland. He shared that he endured a 'lifetime of shame and embarrassment from the abuse.'

In his post, he wrote, "The strongest memory I have of the abuse was washing blood and feces out of my sheets after you left. I remember doing this as a 12 year old because I was too ashamed to tell anyone."

James later deleted all his posts from his official Instagram account.

After years of heroin addiction, James came clean in 2016 and candidly spoke about his recovery journey. In a profile interview with Interview Magazine, the late actor revealed that at the age of 27, he finally quit drugs in 2006 and has been sober ever since. He said, "People think I got sober working on Generation Kill. I didn’t, I sobered up six or seven months before that."

James Ransone made his acting debut in 2002 with the movie Ken Park. In 2003, he was featured in the second season of The Wire, through which he established a strong name in the industry.
