Janhvi Kapoor Reveals Her Curiosity For ‘History, Politics’ Increased After Working With Homebound Director: ‘He’s Sort Of Nudged Me’

Janhvi Kapoor, whose film Homebound premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, talked about working with the movie’s director Neeraj Ghaywan. For those unaware, Homebound premiered at the Cannes’ Un Certain Regard category on May 21. The film received a 9-minute standing ovation after the screening. In an interview done at the Cannes Film Festival, the actress shared her gratitude to the filmmaker and credited him for her ability to think critically. The actress mentioned that her curiosity for cinema, history and politics has increased. She stated that after working with Neeraj, her perspective has changed completely. 

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Janhvi said “I think for me, he’s sort of nudged me into being a more curious person and sort of taking on the responsibility of knowing where I come from, of trying to understand things in my environment about society. I think that, in turn, of course, helped Sudha (her character) and helped my process a lot, but just to inspire someone to have that kind of curiosity, and the way that he did with me was very inspiring.”
