Jee Le Zaraa: Bollywood filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar has finally shared an update on his much delayed project Jee Le Zaraa. The movie was first announced in 2021 with Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif as leads, creating huge excitement. However, repeated delays sparked rumours that the project had been cancelled. Farhan Akhtar first announced Jee Le Zaraa on the 20th anniversary of his directorial debut Dil Chahta Hai. Touted as a buddy road trip movie led by women, it was expected to mark his return to direction.
Speaking in a recent interview with the YouTube channel Our Stupid Reactions, Farhan clarified that the film is very much alive, though currently on hold. He explained, “I would hate to say that it’s shelved. What I will say is that it has been put on the back burner. It is a film that will happen. Again, I don’t know when it will be. But it’s too delicious a script and there’s so much work that has already been done on it.” One of the biggest talking points around the film is whether the original cast Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif will still star in it. Addressing this, Farhan gave a cautious response, “I have finished all location scouts, recorded music for the film. So it’s just a matter of time that we come back and do it again. I can’t comment on the cast anymore, like what that will be and when that will land. But will the film happen? Ya, it will.” This statement has left fans curious, as it suggests the original trio might no longer be confirmed.

Furthermore, in an earlier interview with Variety in 2023, Farhan Akhtar addressed that the dates were not matching which resulted in the delay. He stated, “We just have issues with dates, and the actor’s strike that’s happened has put Priyanka’s dates into a huge tizzy with what can happen and what can’t, so I’ve started genuinely believing that that film now has a destiny of its own. It’ll happen when it has to, we’ll see."

Meanwhile, back in 2024, Alia Bhatt also spoke about the challenges of aligning schedules for such a big film. In an interview with Lallantop, she said, “Logistically, kaafi difficult ho raha tha to get all the dates together but I think agar sabke zehan mein hai aur intent mein hain toh woh film ban jayegi.” Her words reflected both the struggles and the commitment to eventually make the project a reality.
Additionally, Priyanka Chopra shared a note in 2021 announcing the movie. The post read, “Let’s rewind, to me musing about wanting to do another Hindi movie ASAP, on an unusually rainy night in Mumbai in Nov 2019. But it had to be the right one – different, cool, never been done before… I thought. The idea grew into a movie helmed by an all-female cast. There are not enough Hindi movies that are female multi-starrers. This led to an impulsive phone call… to my 2 real friends about this idea that involved 3 on-screen girlfriends. A celebration of friendship we called it!!"
