Scarlett Johansson has officially made history by becoming the highest-grossing lead actor in Hollywood. Her latest movie, Jurassic World Rebirth, delivered a massive box office performance, pushing her total career earnings from lead roles to an incredible $14.8 billion. This new record puts the 40-year-old actress ahead of fellow Marvel stars like Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson.

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is the fact that it comes four years after Johansson stepped away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Her role as Natasha Romanoff, or Black Widow, was a major contributor to her earlier success. However, her latest project has now taken her to a whole new level.

On 6th July, entertainment news outlet The Wrap confirmed Johansson’s new record. The publication credited Jurassic World Rebirth with helping her reach this extraordinary milestone. The film, which premiered on 2nd July, has already earned a staggering $318 million globally in just six days. Among the 2025 releases, it’s currently second only to the Chinese animated blockbuster Ne Zha 2. These figures come from The Numbers, a box office tracking website, which only counted films where Johansson had a lead or lead ensemble role.

Despite her recent success, Johansson’s Marvel films remain the biggest chunk of her box office total. Over $8.7 billion of her earnings come from major MCU entries such as all four Avengers films, Captain America: Civil War, and Iron Man 2—her debut as Black Widow. Her voice role as the punk rock porcupine Ash in Sing (2016) and Sing 2 (2021) also added significant value to her overall total.

Following closely behind her are Robert Downey Jr., who has earned $14.2 billion, mostly from his iconic portrayal of Iron Man, and Samuel L. Jackson, who now ranks just below Johansson with $14.6 billion.
