Kangana Ranaut Says Nursing Is 'Most Sexualised Profession': 'Badlaav Hona Chaiye...'

Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has harshly criticised how society views nursing, claiming that it is frequently 'sexualized' and stereotyped despite the fact that nurses are among the most important frontline healthcare workers—a function that she claims is still greatly undervalued in public debate.

Kangana Ranaut expressed her hope that the movie will alter public perceptions about the nursing profession in an interview with the news agency ANI. The actress considered the difficulties experienced by healthcare professionals ahead of the release of Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, in which she plays a nurse and 26/11 hero Anjali Kulthe.

Kangana Ranaut Says Nursing Is 'Most Sexualised Profession'

Kangana Ranaut maintained that nurses are still underappreciated, overworked, and underpaid, despite their vital function in hospitals. She said, "Badlaav hona chahiye logon ke joh bhaav hai unke liye usme badlaav hona chahiye. I think it is the most sexualised profession. They are underpaid, they are overworked, and they are most sexualised."

Kangana Ranaut added that nurses carry out several vital tasks that are frequently overlooked. She claims that despite being essential to patient care and hospital operations, they are seldom treated with the respect they merit.

Kangana Ranaut shared, "We don’t give them the respect they deserve. Nurses do a lot of important work, from cleaning patients to ensuring the hospital functions smoothly. If our perspective changes because of this film, even for a few minutes, it will be meaningful."

The actress also expressed her opinions about the dress requirement that nurses must adhere to. She claimed that nurses continue to follow more stringent appearance standards than many other healthcare professionals and that the British-era uniform system's effect is still evident today.

"I feel that the dress code of British nurses is still in use. Our nurses, like doctors, can wear whatever they want to wear; they get a code. But our nurses, whether the weather is hot or cold, in a way, have a foreign look. This is my personal opinion. But in this film, we have worked with integrity and dignity. The shape and size doesn't matter, your uniform is your duty," she said.
