Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma landed in controversy after comparing cricket coach Amol Muzumdar to Shah Rukh Khan's character in Chak De India in the latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show. The women's cricket team, Harmanpreet Kaur, Richa Ghosh, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh, Harleen Deol, Radha Yadav, and Pooja Rawal, along with coach Amol Muzumdar, graced Kapil's show. During the interaction, Kapil, in his signature witty style, asked Muzumdar whether he felt like Shah Rukh Khan in Chak De India after his team won the World Cup 2025. While his joke left guests laughing, many viewers got offended over Kapil not mentioning hockey player Mir Ranjan Negi, the real-life inspiration behind the sports drama. Amid the backlash, Kapil reacted to a social media user who called him a clown and gave a befitting reply.
Kapil Sharma Reacts To Chak De India Joke Controversy
An X user took to X handle sharing a clip from the show featuring a conversation between Kapil Sharma and Amol Muzumdar. The post read, "Idiot @KapilSharmaK9 should know that the real hero was Mir Ranjan Negi, not Kabir Khan, the reel hero! I wish Amol Muzumdar had fact-checked this clown."
To this, Kapil responded saying, "Dear sir, when did I say Kabir khan? I said Shah Rukh Khan, and it was in a humorous way, which you will never understand bcoz apka taansane to besura hai hahaha, anyways Happy New Year. Stay happy and spread happiness."

During the episode, while lauding Muzumdar for the World Cup win, Kapil said, "Jabse aapne World Cup jeeta hai, log aapko Chak De India ka Shah Rukh Khan bol rahe hai social media pe. Aap itne handsome bhi hai. Aapko andar se aati hai feel Shah Rukh Khan ki." Muzumdar replied, "Nahi, Chak De wala nahi aaraha hai." Jemimah jumped in and quipped, "Sir jhooth bolrahe hai actually. Unhone naam change kiya hai apna. Amol Muzumdar se Kabir Muzumdar hogaye hai woh." This segment left everyone laughing, but some viewers online took offence at Kapil's Chak De reference.
The new season of The Great Indian Kapil Show debuted on Netflix on December 20. Priyanka Chopra was the first guest of season 4, followed by the women's Indian cricket team.
