Karan Johar’s upcoming drama movie Dhadak 2 starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri has been generating a lot of buzz for a fresh casting, emotional storyline and more importantly, for its delay. The makers unveiled the trailer of Dhadak 2 on July 11, 2025. The trailer brings the love story of two law students from different castes, who are madly in love with each other. But life has its way of twisting things, and throws challenges at them to break their relationship apart. After going through several delays and modifications, Karan Johar’s Dhadak 2 finally released its first look.

Karan Johar broke his silence on the same and expressed that despite the postponement, the Central Board of Film Certification was very understanding and compassionate about the movie’s plot. During the trailer launch event in Mumbai, Karan Johar said, "I've never ever been worried about repercussions because that restricts you as an artist. If I get scared in the beginning, then…there's a line in the film, 'If you've a choice then fight', and the best way to point a put across is through art."

He even added that the CBFC and the makers both were protecting the sensitivity of the movie and said, "We took a while to get to the cinema halls, but even the censor board was very understanding and very compassionate and absolutely understood what we were trying to say through the film. They were protecting the sensitivity, and we were protecting the sensitivity. We understood and respected their perspective."

The Bollywood director expressed how he is proud of the film and said that just like every other good thing, this movie also took time to come out. Reflecting on how the movie showcases the reality of today’s time, he stated, "Sometimes these things take time, these things can't happen overnight. That's why there are processes in the censor and we must follow... It took time, but every good thing takes time (to come out). It is a story that makes you wake up and think. These topics are not just related to small towns, but they happen around us too. It is a true reality of our times, no matter where you live."

The movie was previously slated for release in November 2024, but somehow faced several modifications and delays. Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, Dhadak 2 is now scheduled for release on August 1, 2025.
