Sunjay Kapur, industrialist and ex-husband of actress Karisma Kapoor, has passed away at the age of 53 after reportedly suffering a heart attack in England. According to reports, he suffered the heart attack while playing polo and breathed his last on Thursday.
His sudden passing comes as a shock. Earlier today, Sunjay had reacted to the tragic news of the Air India crash in Ahmedabad. The industry is mourning his demise.

Actor and author Suhel Seth confirmed Sunjay Kapur's demise and expressed his grief in a post on his X handle. He wrote, "Deeply saddened at the passing of @sunjaykapur : he passed away earlier today in England: a terrible loss and deepest condolences to his family and to his colleagues @sonacomstar Om Shanti— SUHEL SETH (@Suhelseth) June 12, 2025."

A source quoted by India Today,stated that incident happened during a polo match and Sunjay was immediately given medical help. However, despite that he passed away.

Sunjay Kapoor led Sona Comstar (formerly Sona BLW Precision), an automotive component manufacturer, as chairman. He held directorships in several companies and actively engaged with professional organizations. Beyond business, Sunjay was passionate about polo, enthusiastically participating in the sport.

Sunjay's last post on X was earlier on Thurday about the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. His post read, "Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour."

Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay tied the knot in 2003, but their relationship didn't worked out and they decided to split in 2014. Karisma's mother, Babita reportedly played matchmaker for her daughter and Sunjay, while her father, Randhir Kapoor, was against the union.

The businessman and the actor share two children, daughter Samaira and son Kiaan. He was currently married to Priya Sachdev.
