Maa Box Office Collection Day 1: Kajol led Horror-Mythological movie released in theatres on June 27. It had a box office clash with Vishnu Manchu’s pan-India movie Kannappa, which earned Rs 9 crore on Day 1. Maa got rave reviews for Kajol’s performance. But the opening collection of Maa was unexpected, as it earned moderate numbers. Seeing the weekend ahead, the film might pick up its game and show improvement. As per Sacnilk, Maa earned Rs 4.50 crore on Day 1. The film had an overall 20.52 per cent Hindi occupancy on Friday. It had 8.23 per cent occupancy in the morning shows, 20.08 per cent in the afternoon shows, 21.16 per cent in the evening shows and 32.61 per cent in the night shows.

According to reports, the film was made on a budget of Rs 55-60 crores. The film has to maintain a steady pace with good numbers to recover the budget and earn profits.

About Maa

The plot revolves around a mother and daughter, whose lives are turned upside down after they embark on a road trip. But they halted at a cursed village where they encountered with negative energy. The mother takes her Kali avatar to protect her child from the demons. Maa features Kajol, Ronit Roy, Maa also features Indraneil Sengupta, Yaaneea Bharadwaj, Jitin Gulati, Kherin Sharma, Surjyasikha Das and Gopal Singh in key roles. It has been directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande. Harsh Upadhyay, Shiv Malhotra and Rocky Khanna were the music directors of the film.
