Manushi Chhillar is an actress, model and the winner of the Miss World 2017 pageant. The young diva signed her first Bollywood movie, Samrat Prithviraj, in 2022. The style icon has done only four movies in the span of seven years and is all set to come up with her new release starring actors like Rajkummar Rao, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Saurabh Shukla in the movie Maalik. The actress recently opened up about the existing beauty standards in the glamorous industry and also shed light on being a part of her upcoming release, Maalik.
Manushi Chhillar told Hindustan Times that “it depends on the role” when she was questioned about Hindi cinema and their emphasis on female actors’ looks. She said, “If you are supposed to look like a certain attractive diva, then that is the requirement. It is a visual medium. Actors, both male and female, have to look like their character. There are films where we want the male star to look like a fantasy for all the women, or the female star to look like a fantasy for all the men.” She also mentioned that a make-up team is always there to help actors, and it's not their sole responsibility to bring out the best look.

Talking about her role in Maalik, the actress explained that she did not want to look like a misfit among such a talented star cast. "The challenge for me was that this is a very rooted character, and I'll be sharing screen space with a lot of experienced senior actors. Everyone is playing all these characters with a lot of individuality. Filmmaking is teamwork. I didn't want to look like I don't belong here in this world. That's what I was working on, trying not to look like I'm new to this. I didn't want to look like a misfit," she explained.
The makers of Maalik recently dropped the trailer of the movie starring Rajkumar Rao and Manushi Chhillar. The clip promises a strong story packed with action, adventure and romantic chaos. Maalik explores themes like power, ambition, survival and political positions, all at the price of risking life. It is set to hit the screens on July 11, 2025.
