Maareesan Release Date OUT: The much-awaited Tamil film Maareesan, starring Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu, finally gets a release date. The makers confirmed the release date recently, creating a buzz among fans. The movie is directed by Sudheesh Sankar and written by V. Krishna Moorthy, who also serves as the creative director. This marks the second time Fahadh and Vadivelu are sharing screen space after their successful collaboration in Maamannan (2023), which was both a box office hit and praised for their powerful performances.

Actor Vivek Prasanna shared the release announcement on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “Get ready for the ultimate face-off! #Maareesan hitting theatres this July 25th, 2025!!! #MaareesanFromJuly25th” The Tamil movie is officially scheduled to release on 25th July 2025. Maareesan is all set to clash at the box office with Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming movie Thalaivan Thalaivii, which is releasing on the same day.

Maareesan marks director Sudheesh Sankar’s comeback to Tamil cinema after more than a decade. His first Tamil film, Aarumaname, was released in 2009. Sudheesh is celebrated for his work in Malayalam films and television, with notable projects like Villali Veeran (2014). This Tamil movie is being produced by RB Choudary under the banner of Super Good Films. Apart from Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu, the movie boasts a strong ensemble cast. Vivek Prasanna plays Fahadh’s close friend, while Kovai Sarala and PL Thenappan appear as police officers. The cast also includes Sithara, Livingston, Renuka, Saravana Subbiah, Krishna, Haritha, and Telephone Raja among others in key roles.

While the makers have kept the storyline under wraps, the teaser gives a glimpse of what to expect. It starts with scenic visuals of Fahadh and Vadivelu travelling on a bike, suggesting a light-hearted road trip. However, things take a sharp turn when they start singing ‘Aaha Inba Nilaavinile,’ a classic from Mayabazar (1957). The teaser then shifts into a darker, thriller mood, hinting that the film will have unexpected twists and intense moments. With a star-studded cast and gripping storyline, the movie is expected to be one of the most anticipated releases of this year.
