Manoj responded on the random post claiming that he was the first choice for Rang De Basanti, not Aamir Khan. To this, he wrote, "Matlab kuch bhi." The Family Man 3 actor added, "And who is the producer who said this? Naam to bata !! SM pe itne khali lota le ke baithe hai !"

The rumours started after Rang De Basanti screenwriter Kamlesh Pandey in an interview with Ravya Sarda shared casting details of Manoj. UTV, who had rejected the film twice in the past, immediately said yes to it.”
