Govardhan Asrani, a veteran comedian and actor who was also known as Asrani, died at the age of 84 on Monday afternoon. He passed away at Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai, after spending over five days in the hospital due to health issues. His wife Manju, complied with his request to keep the news confidential and prevent any public gathering. His last ceremonies were held at Santacruz Crematorium late on Monday night, with only close friends and family present. She avoided putting his family in the spotlight despite being famous. Not many were aware that Govardhan Ansari's wife was also an actor who starred in movies alongside big stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna.
Who Is Manju Asrani?
Manju Asrani (earlier Bansal), Govardhan Asrani's wife, also worked in the Hindi industry business. She was most active in the 1970s and 1980s, along with her husband. They fell in love when they first met on the sets of Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar and Namak Haraam. Soon, their relationship blossomed into a blessing of lifetime.
Manju Ansari acted in a number of Hindi movies, such as Chor Sipahee, Chandi Sona, Tapasya, Kabeela, and Udhar Ka Sindur. She tried her hand at directing in the late 90s after transitioning to behind the camera later in her career. She even supported her husband's career and put her family above fame.

For almost 50 years, the couple's relationship had been built on friendship and respect for one another. The couple had a son named Naveen Asrani, according to some accounts; however, the Navbharat Times claims they had no children.

Govardhan Asrani, who was born in Jaipur, Rajasthan, attended St. Xavier's before briefly attending All India Radio. He later enrolled at FTII Pune after relocating to Mumbai to pursue an acting career. In 1967, he made his debut with Kaanch Ki Choodiyan after graduating in 1966.
Throughout his five-decade career, the renowned actor starred in more than 350 films, such as Sholay, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Bawarchi, and Chupke Chupke. He also worked for a while in regional Gujarati cinema, making a lasting impression on viewers.
