Michael B Jordan received the Best Actor Oscar for Sinners at the 98th Academy Awards in Los Angeles. This win was a major turning point in both the actor's career and the awards' history. He took the stage to accept his first Oscar at the event, adding his name to the illustrious list of black performers who had done so. Michael B Jordan is now the sixth Black actor to win the Best Actor prize.

Michael B Jordan defeated Timothee Chalamet for Marty Supreme and Leonardo DiCaprio, who was nominated for Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another. This accomplishment demonstrates the significance of his performance in the industry as well as the growing diversity at the Oscars.

Michael B Jordan said, "Thank you, everybody in this room and everybody at home, for supporting me over my career. I feel it."  The actor added, "I know you guys want me to do well, and I want to do that because you guys bet on me, so thank you for keep betting on me. I'm gonna keep stepping up, and I'm gonna keep being the best version of myself I can be."

Michael B Jordan shared, "I stand here because of the people that came before me." He mentioned Will Smith, Forest Whittaker, Jamie Foxx, Halle Berry, Denzel Washington, and Sidney Poitier. With his victory, the 39-year-old becomes the sixth Black actor to win Best Actor, following in the footsteps of Will Smith, Forest Whitaker, Jamie Foxx, Sidney Poitier, and Denzel Washington. He acknowledged both his forebears and Halle Berry, the first Black woman to win Best Actress, calling the pioneering trio 'giants'.

Michael B Jordan took home one of four awards for Sinners, which included best cinematography, best score, and best original screenplay by Ryan Coogler.
