Aamir Khan, who now reigns supreme in Bollywood as Mr Perfectionist, is a skilled actor, a disciplined director, and a dedicated producer. He has carved a special place as a producer in the film industry with several popular projects like Dhobi Ghat and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, but initially, the star was totally against the idea of producing a movie. The Dangal actor recently opened up about his initial decision to stay away from becoming a producer and revealed that this thought came after seeing his father Tahir Hussain. Aamir was strongly averse to the idea of producing due to the immense risks and challenges involved. Interestingly, his father was the one who encouraged him to get into the production line.

Aamir Khan recently appeared on Komal Nahta’s podcast Game Changers. The preview of his episode showed him reveal how his father’s life as a producer convinced him to stay away from becoming one. He shared, “Mujhe lagta hai jab maine apne father ka career dekha first-hand jab main chhota tha, toh mujhe realise hua mujhe producer kabhi nahi banna hai. Because you put in the most effort, take all the risks, invest your own money, and end up taking all the flak. Often, your team doesn't cooperate with you, and my father's film Locket took 8 years to make. Seeing all this, I thought, ‘I have become an actor, my career has taken off, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak is a hit, why do I need to be a producer?’”

Aamir Khan added that during the start of his career, many people asked him whether he would step into his father’s shoes and become a producer, but he always gave a flat reply. The Ghajini star used to mention that he was already acting, and would love to direct movies, but would never become a producer.

Further, the actor also discussed what truly inspired him to get into the field of production. Aamir Khan stated that it was his movie Lagaan’s script that made all the difference. The actor liked the script so much, but wondered who would back the movie. It was then that his father entered and encouraged him to produce the film on his own.
