Richa Chadha shared a video on Instagram, which captures the glimpses of her pregnancy journey to becoming a mother, as her daughter Zuneyra turns 1 today. The clip features several heartfelt moments of the journey to motherhood. While posting the beautiful video, the Masaan actress shared a beautiful note to wish her daughter. While several people expressed their happiness but some took no time to criticise her ‘natural birth’ mention. This escalated war of words between the actress and the trolls.
Richa wrote, “For bringing so much colour into all our lives! A year ago I gave birth to a healthy baby girl at Breach Candy Hospital. Labour lasted a few hours, delivery only about 20 minutes, natural birth! Life hasn’t been the same since, particularly me… I feel rearranged from the insides out… my brain, my heart, my body, my soul 🍀 Zuneyra was born a year ago and so was I. Reborn as a mom. An entirely new being, than what existed before. A life and child with the man of your dreams… if this isn’t a blessing I don’t know what is.”
A netizen argued on her natural birth remark and said that every childbirth is normal. The user wrote, “Every birth is natural, thanks to Science nowadays they're being assisted to help the Mom and the kid.” To which, the actress replied, “If I said normal delivery, you'd have said the same thing.” Another wrote reacted to Richa’s comment and said, “Girl I love you and it’s called vaginal delivery. Like she pointed out, every women carries the child naturally in her for 9 months and delivers them naturally.”
Richa then responded, “but what if I don't wanna say vaginally delivery, it is my page and also my vagina and my baby. And feminism taught me to use words of my choosing. So..”
Another user shared her opinion and added, “please the word normal meant everything to every mothers don’t say it like that because it hurts others who feel like they don’t have the mind and zeal to go through it so saying it like that normal it traumatizing and if you meant the other way around to say normal delivery then even the ones that are Caesarian is normal because over 50% of women are doing it.” Richa then replied, “I didn't say normal…” Eventually, Richa in her comment section mentioned, “vaginal* LOL” to stop the conversation.

Well, this is not the first time a celebrity has been criticised for natural delivery. Earlier in an interview with News18, Suniel Shetty faced backlash for praising his daughter Athiya Shetty’s choice not to go for C-Section. He said, “In a world where everybody wants the comfort of having a caesarean baby, she chose not to do that and had a natural delivery. I remember how every nurse and paediatrician in the hospital said that it’s unbelievable how she went through the whole process.”

After facing the backlash, he issued a statement to clarify his stance. Suniel added, “So, to all individuals who were offended—even if I did not make the mistake. I will sincerely apologise to all the ladies out there because I honestly appreciate and revere them. And not because someone took two phrases from my quote and exaggerated it.”
Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal got married in an intimate wedding in 2022. The duo welcomed their first child in July 2024.
