During Akhanda 2's pre-release festivities in Hyderabad, Nandamuri Balakrishna conveyed a message that was more about duty than it was about movies. The MLA cum actor asked his fans to abstain from animal sacrifices outside of theaters, a habit that has put some of his fans in legal trouble. He made a heartfelt plea before concluding his address, asking viewers to refrain from beaheading goats.

Nandamuri Balakrishna made a direct plea to his audience during his remarks at the ceremony by pausing before ending. He said, "I must tell you something. Every region has its tradition, with some of you beheading goats during movie releases. Please don’t do that."

Nandamuri Balakrishna continued by reminding them that it is unacceptable to use violence toward animals. "It is not okay to harm another living being. Understand that they also have a right to live. We must treat four-legged animals with as much respect as two-legged humans. I hope you will heed my request," he added.

The request from Nandamuri Balakrishna comes months after five of his admirers were charged with animal abuse during Daaku Maharaaj's premiere. A video of a goat being beheaded and its blood splashed on movie posters at a Tirupati theatre went viral online, prompting the filing of the lawsuit. PETA India filed a complaint, and the local police filed a formal complaint against the group.

Such events have also come to light in the past. A similar video of animal sacrifice went viral on social media last year when Balakrishna's nephew Jr. NTR's Devara: Part 1 was released.
