Param Sundari Box Office Day 9: Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s latest romantic drama, Param Sundari, continues its theatrical run but is facing mounting pressure at the box office. The film, directed by Tushar Jalota of Dasvi fame, hit cinemas on August 29, 2025. Despite the strong on-screen chemistry between Sidharth and Janhvi, Param Sundari has had a mixed response at the box office. While it has now become Janhvi Kapoor’s third-highest-grossing film in India, the movie still needs to hold steady over the next few days if it hopes to cross its production cost and turn profitable.

On its ninth day, the film has collected Rs 43.50 crore and is now close to crossing the Rs 45 crore milestone by the end of Sunday. Made on a budget of ₹50 crore, Param Sundari still needs nearly Rs 7 crore more to break even. Its journey at the box office has been filled with highs and lows, especially as it battles stiff competition from fresh releases like Baaghi 4 and Hollywood horror The Conjuring: Last Rites, both of which arrived in theatres this Friday. On Friday, Day 8, Param Sundari saw its earnings dip by 33.96%, pulling in just Rs 1.75 crore – its lowest single-day collection since release. However, Saturday brought a small recovery. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Param Sundari saw a 14.29% improvement in its earnings on Saturday, earning Rs 2 crore on Day 9. This is only marginally better than what it earned on Friday, marking its lowest collection since release.

Meanwhile, Param Sundari ’s performance across regions has shown some interesting trends. According to reports, Param Sundari had an overall 39.17% Hindi Occupancy on Saturday. The morning shows had 15.02% occupancy, which rose steadily through the day to 36.90% in the afternoon, 48.88% in the evening, and peaked at 55.86% at night. The highest number of screenings took place in the Delhi (NCR) region, with 259 shows, though occupancy there averaged a modest 34%. Surprisingly, the film did best in the South, with Chennai recording an impressive 97.67% turnout and Bengaluru at 66.50%. However, Chennai currently has only five shows left for the film.

Param Sundari's Plot

Story-wise, Param Sundari explores the clash between modernity and tradition. It follows Param (played by Sidharth Malhotra), a carefree young man from Delhi who spends his father’s money investing in startups. In search of something unique, he tries out Soulmates, an AI-based app that claims to find a person’s perfect match. His search leads him to Thekkepattu Sundari Damodharan Pillai (played by Janhvi Kapoor), a South Indian girl from Kerala who runs her family’s ancestral homestay with her uncle, Bhargavan Nair, a practitioner of Kalari Payattu. What begins as a light-hearted experiment soon grows into a journey filled with humour, culture clashes, and heartfelt emotions. As Param’s fast-paced city life collides with Sundari’s rooted traditions, the two explore whether technology has truly brought them together or if real love lies beyond algorithms.
