Param Sundari Box Office Shutterdown: Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, has officially completed its theatrical run, but the results were far from impressive. Directed by Tushar Jalota, the romantic comedy-drama ended its box office journey with a total of Rs. 48.50 crore nett in India. While the film did manage to generate initial buzz with its catchy track Pardesiya, sung by Sonu Nigam, it could not sustain the same interest after its release. Mixed audience reception and ordinary box office trends sealed its fate early on.
Released on August 29, Param Sundari started with an opening day of Rs. 6.85 crore. It wrapped its first week at Rs. 37 crore, largely boosted by Buy-One-Get-One ticket offers during weekdays. Trade experts even suggested that without these offers, the film’s first-week earnings would have been much lower. Unfortunately, the second week brought a massive setback as the movie earned just Rs. 9 crore, marking a steep 75 per cent drop. The film’s downfall was also accelerated by heavy competition from new releases including The Conjuring: Last Rites, Baaghi 4, and The Bengal Files. With such strong films arriving in cinemas, Param Sundari failed to hold its ground and started to fade away.
Meanwhile, by its third week, the movie added only Rs. 2.50 crore, and with the arrival of Jolly LLB 3 in week four, the film’s collections completely collapsed. Its final addition of Rs. 0.25 crore pushed the lifetime total to Rs. 48.50 crore nett. This confirmed Param Sundari as another underperformer for Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, despite their star power. While the film failed at the box office, it wasn’t a complete loss for the producers.
About Param Sundari Movie
Directed by debutant Raghav Anand, Param Sundari attempted to mix modern romance with cultural traditions. The story follows Param (Sidharth Malhotra), a wealthy Delhi-based entrepreneur who invests heavily in start-ups. His latest project takes him to “ Soulmates,” an AI-powered matchmaking app, where he is matched with Sundari (Janhvi Kapoor), a traditional girl from Kerala. Sundari helps run her family’s homestay alongside her uncle, a Kalari Payattu martial arts expert. What begins as a simple experiment on the app gradually turns into an unexpected love story, highlighting themes of ambition, cultural contrast, and emotional bonds. The film also featured Inayat Verma, Sanjay Kapoor, and Manjot Singh in supporting roles.
