Peddi makers have announced an extended version after receiving harsh criticism for how Janhvi Kapoor's role was portrayed. Three particular moments that were previously left out will be included in this revised version. This decision was made in response to popular criticism of the way her character, Achiyyamma, was written and presented.
According to Peddi director Buchi Babu Sana, the updated version will hit theatres on June 17 and will feature three scenes that were previously omitted from the movie. The filmmaker revealed that the team has already revised the edit to reinstate deleted portions during a success meet on Sunday, June 14.
Peddi will also include a scene starring veteran actor Jagapathi Babu, apart from the new scenes featuring Janhvi Kapoor. "They will be added from this Wednesday. We have added a total of three scenes. There will be scenes related to the heroine, and also one scene for Jagapathi Babu. All the missing elements will be included in it," the filmmaker told the reporters.
Talking about Janhvi Kapoor's character in the new version, he added, "There are two more scenes related to Janhvi's character. After watching them, the audience will connect even more with the character. I believe that with that, Janhvi's character will reach another level."

Why Peddi Faced Backlash?
Peddi, which was released on June 4, 2026, made almost Rs 51 crore on its first day at the box office. But soon after it was released, criticism over Achiyyamma's representation surfaced. Viewers cited two scenes: one in which Ram Charan's character admires her, but the emphasis switches to provocative body framing rather than emotion, and another in which the camera lingers on her body before revealing her face.
Viewers also condemned public harassment scenes during an election campaign, calling it 'disgusting' and questioning whether the film was romanticising obsessive behaviour.

The filmmaker responded to the criticism by publicly apologising shortly after. Additionally, he affirmed that the contentious sequences had been removed, saying that no actor or character had ever been disrespected.
"As a filmmaker, I believe cinema should entertain, inspire, and connect with audiences. It should never make anyone feel uncomfortable or disrespected. If any part of the film has been perceived that way, we respect those sentiments, understand the concerns being raised, and sincerely apologise," said Buchi Babu Sana.
Peddi Box Office Collection Till Now
Peddi continues to perform well domestically as well as at the worldwide box office despite criticism. The movie's gross is currently Rs 258.79 crore, while its total India net collection is Rs 218.17 crore, according to Sacnilk.
The Bucchi Babu-directed Telugu sports drama is one of the biggest Telugu hits of the year. Now that the global gross is getting close to Rs 400 crore, everyone is watching to see if Peddi can continue to grow during the week and go closer to profitability.
Ram Charan plays a resolute villager in Peddi who overcomes personal obstacles to become a para-athlete and fight for his community's advancement. A. R. Rahman wrote the musical score for the movie, which also stars Boman Irani, Shiva Rajkumar, and Divyenndu.
