Several Korean actresses like Kim Cheong and Lee Min Young have shocked their fans with the news of their super-fast divorce. Many high-profile celebrity cases have garnered attention for their lengthy and controversial divorce battles like Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki, Ahn Jae Hyun and Goo Hye Sun, and Park Ji Yoon and Choi Dong Seok. Amid all these cases, Korean actresses have become fodder for the gossip mongers and faced public scrutiny online.

Here are 5 Kdrama actresses who divorced their partners soon after their much-celebrated weddings.

KIM CHEONG
South Korean star Kim Cheong is known for her brilliant performances in Kdramas like Sassy Girl, Two Women's Room, Happy Together and The Spices Who Loved Me. The Korean actress married a businessman after a week of dating in the year 1998. But unfortunately, their romantic partnership lasted for only three days, and the couple got divorced.

The actress once said during an interview, "I was empty and anxious at the thought that I didn't even have my place as the main character at the time. I thought I would have my own side and be stable if I got married. Now that I think about it, it was such a stupid idea." Reportedly, the reason for the divorce was that her husband lived apart and forced his mother to handle all the finances.

SONG HYE KYO
Known for her phenomenal work in the popular Korean show Descendants of the Sun, actress Song Hye Kyo married her co-star from the same show, Song Joong Ki, in a private ceremony in 2017. The duo soon got divorced after one year and nine months and cited differences regarding family planning. While the official reason revolved around a difference of opinion about family planning, online buzz suggested that it was Song Joong Ki’s infidelity that led to the couple’s divorce. Both the stars managed to move on from that difficult phase. Song Joong Ki tied the knot for the second time with British actress Katy Louise Saunders.

PARK JI YEON
Park Ji Yeon is a famous Kpop singer and actress, and her popular works include Dream High 2, Triangle, and I Wanna Hear Your Song, as well as movies like Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp and Encounter. She got married to baseball player Hwang Jae-gyun in 2022. Just two years later, the admired couple filed for divorce in 2024. The reason for their separation was never revealed. But several reports suggested that the baseball player’s sports controversy led to the final decision of separation. They announced their divorce, citing personality differences as the main reason.

LEE MIN YOUNG
Lee Min Young’s marriage was short-lived, as the actress got divorced just after 12 days of taking the vows at the altar. The South Korean actress got married to Lee Chan in December 2006. Reportedly, the divorce was a result of domestic violence that allegedly resulted in a miscarriage and a broken nose requiring reconstructive surgery for actress Lee Min-young. In this regard, Lee Chan was sentenced to a year in prison.

Talking about her divorce rumours, the actress once mentioned in her interviews, “I had never looked up my name before, but my friends told me there were some really absurd stories going around about me, so I searched. And I found unbelievable things being said about situations that never even happened. One rumour leads to another, and I didn’t even know where to begin untangling it all.”

MYUNG SE BIN
Myung Se-bin married a lawyer named Gang Ho-sung in August 2007, but couldn’t enjoy a happily married life for a long time as the couple separated their ways after 5 months of their marriage. The duo announced their separation and mentioned different personalities, life views and careers as the key reasons for choosing different roads.

The actress mentioned in one of her interviews that it was really tough for her to get work after being divorced. “It wasn’t easy to work right after my divorce. The issue became so big that it was hard to get cast in dramas. I say this carefully, but it felt like my ‘pure’ image had been shattered,” she said.
