Ranbir Kapoor gave an interview in which he made a bold and surprising confession during the promotions of his film Rockstar (2011). He spoke about his love life and said he lost his virginity at the age of 15.
Over the years, the 44-year-old actor has spoken openly about his personal life more than once. He is now married to actress Alia Bhatt, and the couple have a daughter named Raha.
Ranbir Kapoor said, "I must have been around 15 years old when I lost my virginity." He also said that the relationship did not last long.
Ranbir has also admitted in public that he cheated on a partner in the past. "Yes, I have, out of immaturity, out of inexperience, out of taking advantage of certain temptations, out of callousness."
He continued, "You realise it now, when you grow up and you value it more — why be in a relationship, why be committed to someone when you cannot be committed? I’ve realised that now."
"That's why I don't want to jump into a relationship with anybody because … unless you have a special bond, a special equation with somebody, somebody who you can be committed to, somebody who can trust you, who you can respect, there’s no point."
Ranbir has dated Deepika Padukone and later Katrina Kaif. He did not name the person he cheated on, but reports suggest it was his Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani co-star.
In another interview, he said he had been with fewer than 10 girlfriends.
