Randeep Hooda has become one of the most loved and reputed action stars, be it in Bollywood with movies like Kick, Jaat and Sultan, or in Hollywood with films like Extraction and his upcoming endeavour with John Cena in Matchbox. Randeep recently talked about how the action world is completely different in both industries and shared his experience working in both. He opened up about how the action sequences in India are built around the stardom of the male actors to make them appear larger-than-life characters.
Randeep Hooda got candid during an interview with Mid-day and talked about his co-actors Salman Khan and Sunny Deol. He said, “The action is designed around them. They’re both great. When you see them, you feel they can do it… They were stars before the advent of the Internet. They were rare commodities. Now, you know what every star is doing or eating; it’s all available on their social media. They have their persona, and that’s what I was trying to aim for.”

However, Randeep revealed that Hollywood action sequences are completely different. He recalled his days of shooting with Chris Hemsworth on the sets of Extraction and said, “The difference is they come and rehearse for weeks and weeks before they do it. Me and Chris were rehearsing for six weeks before we did them. It looks real. That happens with rehearsals, like in theatre. They’re not as worshipped as our Indian male stars are, and that’s probably what keeps it somewhere real.” He explained how Indian heroes are made to look like superheroes, while Hollywood stars prefer keeping it realistic.
After paving his way in Hollywood, actor Randeep Hooda is all set to grace the big screens with director Sam Hargrave for the action-comedy, Matchbox, starring WWE champion and actor John Cena. The movie is expected to release in 2026 with action-packed scenes and quirky humour.
