Popular rapper Emiway Batai, whose real name goes by Muhammad Bilal Shaikh, has received death threats, if the reports are to be believed. The individual in question is claiming to be Goldy Brar, a Canada-based gangster and close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The threatening message was reportedly sent to him on a mobile number registered with Bantai's music label, Bantai Records, on May 25.

The threat message mentioned Rohit Godara, a close aide of the gang, who is reportedly residing in the United States. Emiway filed a complaint through a staff member at the NRI Police Station.

The threat came after Emiway released a musical tribute to the late singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was brutally shot dead in his car, leading to an uproar among his fans. According to India Today, Bantai said about the track, “Sidhu Moosewala is more than just an artist. He's a movement. His voice, his message, and his spirit continue to inspire me and many others every day. This tribute is my way of showing love and respect to someone who changed the game in his own way. Sidhu and I had actually discussed collaborating. This song is my way of turning that dream into a reality.”

Sidhu Moosewala was gunned down by unidentified assailants in his car on 29 May 2022 in Jawaharke village of Mansa at age of 28. The Death Route singer was among 424 people whose security was downgraded a day before. On the day he was shot dead, the singer was accompanied by two commandos instead of four. Moosewala was travelling in a private car as his Thar SUV could not accommodate five people, according to his friends.
