Real Reason Behind Alia Bhatt’s Absence From Dining With The Kapoors; Armaan Jain Says ‘She Had…’

Alia Bhatt’s absence was quickly noticed by the fans from the Netflix show, Dining with the Kapoors, sparking debate among netizens post-trailer release. Dining with the Kapoors became one of the most anticipated shows on Netflix after its trailer launch earlier this week, and it is all set for its release on November 21, 2025. Alia’s absence has led to netizens speculating why the actor was missing from a significant Kapoor gathering, where almost everyone from the clan was present.

While the netizens are confused about Alia Bhatt’s absence from the show, Armaan Jain revealed the real reason behind her absence from the show. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the creators of Dining with the Kapoors, Armaan Jain and Smriti Mundhra, revealed that the absence was not intentional but a lack of free dates for the shoot. According to Armaan, the actress had prior commitments and was not available on the days of the shoot. He also added that, according to the legendary actor, Raj Kapoor, ‘Work is Worship.’ Smriti then added, “This is the one thing about this family. They are all workaholics, and they all love what they do.”

She continued, “There is a great understanding in the family, and everyone makes an attempt to gather and prioritise as much as possible, but inevitably there are one or two people you can't make it because of the work, and that’s always allowed”.

Armaan Jain mentioned that the real reason why he created this show was that he wanted to honour the great legacy of his grandfather, legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor and what better time than to do so than on his 100th birth anniversary. He wanted to give outsiders a candid sneak peek into the Kapoors' family’s dining room, show their unedited moments, conversations and playful banters.

Even though Alia Bhatt was not really present in the show, she did not shy away from expressing her excitement on the internet. In her story, she posted the promo and wrote, “From my experience, this is going to be so much fun.
